Need
DGI, in partnership with GeneXus Consulting, introduces Electronic Invoicing in Uruguay. This was considered the most significant project in recent years, according to DGI’s General Director of Revenue, Pablo Ferreri.
Following the transition from paper to electronic, DGI partnered with GeneXus Consulting to develop e-commerce and meet taxpayer needs. As a result, both buying and selling companies save paper, their management improves, tax auditing in DGI is optimized, and both the quality and quantity of information improve.
The project involved the analysis, development, and implementation of a new electronic tax receipt (e-invoice) system.
Solution
Electronic invoices (e-invoices) are digital documents that meet DGI legal and regulatory requirements. They are as legal and tax-valid as paper invoices. Electronic versions can be stored, managed, and exchanged digitally.
The Electronic Tax Receipt (CFE) is sent using a simple application compatible with standard accounting systems. This allows faster electronic exchange of documents between the issuer, receiver and the DGI, electronically signed and certified by the National Infrastructure for Electronic Certification.
Various modules were implemented to support the system, including application, certification, resolution, collection of electronic tax receipts and daily reports. They also included disaffiliation, obligors, and data management processes.
